Example of a Trixie Bet
Now it’s time to give you a good example of a Trixie Bet and how it exactly work. In this example we will use the sport Football, but you can use this type of betting at almost every sport. Let’s say you’re interested in betting on the following three Football Matches:
- Ajax vs. Feyenoord
- Man. United vs. Man. City
- Inter Milan vs. Ac Milan
Now, let’s assume you’re placing a Trixie Bet on the outcomes of these matches. In our example we betted on the following outcome: Ajax Win, Man. City Win and Inter Milan Win. Here’s how it would work:
- Double 1: This combines the outcomes of Match 1 and Match 2. So, you have a double on Ajax winning and Man. City winning.
- Double 2: This combines the outcomes of Match 1 and Match 3. You have a double on Ajax winning and Inter Milan winning.
- Double 3: This combines the outcomes of Match 2 and Match 3. You have a double on Man. City winning and Inter Milan winning.
- Treble: This combines the outcomes of all three matches. You have a treble on Ajax winning in Match 1, Man. City winning in Match 2, and Inter Milan winning in Match 3.
Similarly to the horse racing example, if your selected teams win their respective matches, you win all four bets. If one or more of your selections lose, you may still win some of the bets, depending on which selections were correct. This structure allows for potential profit even if not all selections win, while offering the chance for significant returns if all selections are successful.
Calculate your Winnings
Let’s say your bets are as follows:
£10 on each double, totaling £30.
£10 on the treble, totaling £10.
If Ajax, Man. City and Inter Milan all win their match, you win all four bets. If, however, one of your selections loses, you would lose that particular bet, but the others could still win. Let’s have a look at the outcome of the bets when all teams win. In this example we use a 2.00 odd for all the winnings teams.
- Double 1 (Ajax & Man. City) – Win 2.00 x 2.00 x £10 = £40
- Double 2 (Ajax & Inter Milan) – Win 2.00 x 2.00 x £10 = £40
- Double 3 (Man. City & Inter Milan) – Win 2.00 x 2.00 x £10 = £40
- Treble (All teams win) – Win 2.00 x 2.00 x 2.00 x £10 = £80
The total winnings in this example are £200, which is a £160 profit with a £40 bet! But it’s also possible that only one team doesn’t win their match. In that case you can still earn some money! Let’s have a look at the winnings when only Inter Milan loses their match:
- Double 1 (Ajax & Man. City) – Win 2.00 x 2.00 x £10 = £40
- Double 2 (Ajax & Inter Milan) – Lose
- Double 3 (Man. City & Inter Milan) – Lose
- Treble (All teams win) – Lose
In this example you won’t lose any money with these odds and a Trixie Bet, because you betted a total of £40 and your return is also £40.
This type of bet allows for potential profit even if not all selections win, which can be appealing to bettors who want to spread their risk while still having the opportunity for significant returns if all selections are successful.
